Levels in the Dark


The levels in Echoes have two primary goals: to give the player ample room to be able to flee enemies, and to make the player feel trapped in a oppressive, disorienting environment. This is best exemplified in the second level, which feature multiple rooms with different vertical heights that are interconnected. The player is required to make a lot of noise to progress in this level so they are given a lot of ground to run from enemies in. At the same time, these tunnels and rooms loop at points and connect together in ways that could be difficult to navigate effectively if the player isn't paying close attention.
